Dream Lottery tickets now on sale in support of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation

Lottery features prize homes in White Rock, Tsawwassen, South Surrey, Vernon, Vancouver, Victoria and Courtenay

VANCOUVER, BC (July 19, 2019) – BC Children’s Hospital Foundation today announced that 2019 Dream Lottery tickets are now on sale. Dream Lottery proceeds go toward research initiatives at BC Children’s Hospital, where over 1,000 medical researchers pursue new discoveries that are then translated directly into improved care to benefit sick and injured children across the province.

“BC Children’s is the only hospital in BC devoted exclusively to children, and through the funds raised through Dream Lottery ticket sales, we can help advance research that will transform health care for kids across the province,” said Teri Nicholas, president & CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The revenue that Dream Lottery generates supports researchers who work tirelessly to discover new treatments and cures that will raise the level of care for the more than 93,000 kids who receive care at the hospital each year.”

BCCH Foundation: Thariq’s Story

Three-year-old Thariq Daya was an active boy who loved riding his bike and playing soccer. So when he began developing symptoms like a fever and slight limp, doctors attributed it to the effects of cold and flu season.

Then one day in February 2018, Thariq’s heart started racing and he wasn’t able to walk properly. He was rushed to BC Children’s Hospital by ambulance. Within three days, the family received news that brought his mom, Shawna, to her knees – he was diagnosed with stage 4, high-risk neuroblastoma.
