Remember This? Reporter Barry Deley Wins Grand Prize LIVE on Global BC!
Global TV anchor Barry Deley won our Grand Prize Draw in 2011 – LIVE on his very own station!
Deley said the moment he got the winning call – only a couple minutes after his name was drawn – was “surreal”. He was at the grocery store when fellow sports reporter Squire Barnes called him on-air from the anchor’s desk.
“It was just one of those life-changing moments for the better,” he said. “I think back on it once and a while, I still can’t believe it.”
Barry and his family chose a 4,000 square-foot home in Fort Langley as their Grand Prize.
He also had a personal connection to the hospital, and another reason (besides the prizes) to buy lottery tickets. Barry’s daughter Eden was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2004 and “the doctors and nurses at Children’s literally saved her life,” he told Erin Cebula in 2012.
“You’re forever indebted for something like that. The best way we could pay back was through the lottery, supporting them that way.
“And hey, you never know, you could win a great prize like this. So it was win-win.”
